About

About 8½ journeys: This is a travel blog, aimed at people who love travelling to discover different places and cultures, who want to find authenticity in the visited countries and communities, and who don’t give a thing about all inclusive goodness of package holidays.

You will find 8½ journeys useful if you are a budget traveller planning your next trip. And if you plan to go to Turkey, then, hey, it’s just good that I start off with my account of the Turkish backpacking trip I’ve recently gone for.

This blog is not really a guide, more a suggestion of what routes you can take on your travels and what places you have an option to visit. All what you read in the blog is based on my experience, though occasionally I’ll relate to what I read/heard from other sources as I want to make this place as functional as possible.

Oh, and most of the pictures need to be credited to my wonderful boyfriend, Bart.

I hope you enjoy it! And if you’ve got any comments about it please get in touch, leave a comment or email me , after all this is a place for you and all I want is that you find it useful!

About me: My name is Barbara, and together with Bart, my boyfriend, I travel to a new place once a year; recently I’ve decided to put all memories, travel tips, and most pictures, into one place to share with other travellers. And so it is, 8½ journeys! My ambitious plan is to document all places we have travelled to, though just for now will focus on my recent backpacking journey in Turkey.

This is a great blog. I’ve just moved to Fethiye from the UK so this is helping me a lot. Keep up the good work 🙂

  2. thanks! I’m glad you enjoy my blog! I’m sure you’ll love your new life in Fethiye, it’s such a lovely place! If you’re travelling around be sure to visit Kas – I fell in love with it, and so does probably any visitor! (https://eightandahalfjourneys.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/kas/)
